About Odoo

Odoo is an open-source business management platform that includes CRM, accounting, inventory, manufacturing, HR, project management, website, e-commerce, and more — all integrated in one system. It's designed for small and medium-sized businesses that have outgrown spreadsheets and entry-level accounting software, but don't want the cost or complexity of enterprise ERP systems like SAP or Oracle.

QuickBooks and Sage are excellent accounting tools but limited in scope — they don't manage inventory, projects, manufacturing, or HR. Odoo replaces 4–8 separate tools with one integrated system. The tradeoff is that Odoo requires a proper implementation; it's not something you set up in an afternoon. That's exactly what Amadio does.

Odoo Community Edition is fully open source and free. Odoo Enterprise adds advanced modules (accounting, manufacturing, field service, e-sign, etc.) and costs a per-user monthly subscription. Most business implementations use Enterprise. Amadio works with both, and we'll recommend the right edition based on your actual needs.

We implement on Odoo 17 and 18 (the two current stable releases). We recommend Odoo 18 for new implementations as it will be supported longer. For rescue and migration projects, we start where you are and plan a version upgrade as a separate phase if needed.

Implementation

Our standard implementations (3–5 Odoo apps, one location, clean data) start at $8,000 CAD. Complex projects — multi-location, multi-company, heavy customization — typically range from $18,000 to $45,000 CAD. Every project is fixed-scope: you know the exact price before we start. See our pricing page for full details.

Standard implementations typically run 8–12 weeks from the first discovery session to go-live. Complex or multi-location projects run 16–24 weeks. We provide a detailed project timeline in our proposal — before any contract is signed.

Fixed-scope pricing means we agree on exactly what will be built, configured, and delivered — and we agree on the price upfront. No hourly billing, no "it took longer than expected" surprises. We use this model because we've been on the client side of projects that ran over budget, and we know how damaging it is. Fixed scope puts the risk on us to deliver efficiently.

No. Odoo is designed to be managed by business users after implementation. Our training program is role-specific — we train your team on the exact screens and workflows they'll use, not a generic platform walkthrough. Most of our clients are running their systems independently within 2–3 weeks of go-live.

Yes, Odoo has a robust REST API and many pre-built connectors. Common integrations include Shopify, WooCommerce, Amazon, Stripe, PayPal, various shipping carriers, and bank feeds. Custom integrations are available through our custom development service.

Industry-Specific

Yes. Odoo handles donor CRM, grant tracking, fund accounting, and program reporting. The key is configuring it correctly for nonprofit-specific workflows, which differ significantly from commercial businesses. We have specific experience implementing Odoo for Canadian charitable organizations. See our nonprofit practice →

Yes. With proper configuration, Odoo can generate CRA-compliant tax receipts (including official receipt numbers, charity registration number, and eligible amount calculations). This requires careful setup of the accounting module and donation workflows — it's not a default configuration, but it's well within Odoo's capabilities.

Absolutely. We've implemented Odoo for faith-based organizations managing membership, donations, events, and multi-site operations. The system handles recurring giving, seasonal campaigns, and family-level donation tracking. See our faith-based practice →

Working with Amadio

The discovery call is a structured 30-minute conversation. We ask about your current systems, your team size, your biggest operational bottlenecks, and your timeline. There's no sales pitch. At the end, we give you our honest assessment of whether Odoo is right for your situation — and if it is, what an engagement would look like.

You'll receive a calendar confirmation and a short prep note. After the call, we'll send you a written summary of what we discussed and our recommendation within 24 hours. If we recommend moving forward, we'll prepare a fixed-scope proposal within 5 business days.

Yes. Our Managed Support retainer ($800 CAD/month) includes system maintenance, user support, minor configuration changes, and continuous improvement. We also offer ad-hoc training sessions and custom development on a per-engagement basis.

Rescue & Recovery

Yes. This is one of our core services. Failed implementations are more common than most people admit — usually because of inadequate discovery, poor data migration, or a consultant who didn't understand the business. We start with a structured audit, build a remediation plan, and execute it with a fixed scope and timeline. Learn about Rescue & Recovery →

Our audit covers: configuration gaps (modules not set up correctly), data integrity issues, workflow bottlenecks, user adoption failures, and integration problems. We document everything and present findings before any remediation work begins. You know exactly what's wrong and what it will take to fix it.

Most rescue engagements complete in 6–10 weeks. Complex rescues involving data corruption, major customization issues, or version mismatches can run longer. We provide a fixed timeline in the rescue proposal.
